Lifelines Scheme

This scheme enables the provision of financial aid to individuals, organisations and communities who are experiencing hardship and are in need of immediate help. Each Lifeline must meet the aims and objectives of the charity and an annual budget is allocated for the Lifelines scheme.

Since its conception, our Lifelines scheme has funded the following projects to provide immediate aid when and where it was needed.

In Partnership with the Everest Mera Foundation (EMF) in the Mahakulung Municipality

New Futures Nepal funded PPE and Covid-19 antigen testing kits in the remote villages of the Mahakulung region. This enabled healthcare professionals to establish an effective trace and isolation program.

  • Funded shelter and aid following the 2015 earthquake.

  • Funded the reconstruction of four classrooms of Mahakulung Basic School and Janasudhar Basic School in Chheskam that were badly damaged by the twin earthquakes in 2015.

  • Funded the building of a smoke-free home for a family with an asthmatic child.

  • Funded warm tracksuits for the school children of Chheskam.

  • Funded the annual salaries of two English teachers.

  • Funded two aid drives during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This project initially saw food packages delivered to porter families impacted by the collapse of the trekking industry, but when lockdown persisted, lead to the creation of a novel food-bank and the provision of PPE, hygiene products, and antigen tests to allow for the creation of an effective trace and isolation program.

“We are incredibly grateful to New Futures Nepal UK. It has been the largest donor organisation in Mahakulung since 2015.”

In Partnership with The Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) Nepal

  • Funded the accommodation and daily main meal of a student with upper-limb palsy, so that they could attend college in Kathmandu.

In Partnership with The Lions Club, Kathmandu

  • Funded the provision of 80 sweaters to children attending two primary level schools in the Kavre and Ramechhap districts, and 62 woollen blankets to the villagers of the Ramechhap district, surrounding Kathmandu.
