Our vision for the future of New Futures Nepal

After more than 20 years, New Futures Nepal’s main objectives still remain: 

  1. TO RELIEVE AND SUPPORT CASES OF NEED, HARDSHIP, DISTRESS, OR DISABILITY FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF NEPAL OR FOR PEOPLE OF NEPALESE ORIGIN OR NATIONALITY WORLDWIDE, AND 

  2. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATIONAL NEEDS IN THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF NEPAL OR FOR PEOPLE OF NEPALESE ORIGIN WORLDWIDE, AND

  3. FOR SUCH OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES FOR NEPALESE PEOPLE AS THE TRUSTEES MAY DETERMINE FROM TIME TO TIME

As Nepal becomes more independent and regulated, and disability becomes less stigmatised, we will need to move away from funding for the provision of homes for orphans and the disabled and move towards raising awareness of disability and providing opportunities and means for those facing hardship to better their lives. 

This may take the form of resources for communities to provide for and care for all their people, irrespective of the obstacles they face (physical, social, political, or emotional) providing aid to those facing acute hardships brought about by earthquakes, landslides, flooding, and disease etc., and providing opportunities for those with extra challenges to live fulfilling lives, be it through sport, education, training, or job opportunities.

We will:

  1. Develop deeper relationships with relevant advocates, activists, and charities in Nepal and where it makes sense, offer them a governing and influential role with New Futures Nepal, and use these relationships to seek out new projects and initiatives that support our objectives 

  2. Utilise our connections with both Nepali and British individuals (as well as in other countries), companies, and charity organisations (who share our vision and interests) to bring about these positive changes in Nepal

  3. Strive to widen our network of connections to build our profile and maximise the reputation, visibility, and viability of New Futures Nepal. 

All of this will be directed by the needs of the people and children in Nepal, and we will continue to offer this support with a hands-on, conscientious approach, whilst maintaining a strong understanding of, and empathy for, the people of Nepal and the country. All of this will continue to be done on a volunteer basis by the trustees to ensure that the donations from our supporters have the optimal impact in Nepal.
