UPDATES FROM NEPAL
Nepali New Year
The 14th April marked the start of the Nepali New Year, and we would like to wish all our friends, supporters, and collaborators all the best for the coming year.
The Hope Centre family celebrated the occassion with outdoor cooking and dancing:
Hope Centre Latest
On the subject of the Hope Centre, refurbishment work on the centre nears completion. As well as structural and cosmetic updates, delivery of three washing machines and two refrigerators has also been taken, making the household tasks of laundry and catering more manageable.
Mahakulung ‘Back to School’ Scholarship Programme - Resounding Success
Turning our attention to the incredible work of our partners the Everest Mera Foundation, Between the 11th and 13th of March, in the culmination of our Scholarship Programme in the Mahakulung region south of Everest, 59 support packages were presented to children who had dropped out of school to become labourers.
Many thanks to Ardonagh Community Trust for their generous donation and the Everest Mera Foundation for implementing the project. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
Nirmala Foundation Amputee Runway 2026
For a second year running, the Nirmala Foundation’s Amputee Runway was a great success. Taking place on 11th April 2026 at Club Platinum in Kathmandu, the event (which coincides with Limb Loss Awareness Month) showcased inclusive fashion and self-expression. And with the theme of “From the Sideline to the Spotlight” celebrated the strength & resilience of those with limb-loss or limb-differences.

Networking in the UK
On the 21st and 22nd March, New Futures Nepal trustees attended the 2026 National Outdoor Expo at the N.E.C. Birmingham. The event gave us a chance to make several new contacts within the field of outdoor pursuits, and we are confident that some exciting new collaborations will lead to some interesting new fundraising ventures in the future.
